Aims & Scope
Aims
UMRAN is a peer-reviewed academic journal that serves as a platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to advance and disseminate knowledge rooted in Islamic perspectives. The journal is committed to promoting scholarship that addresses the intellectual, cultural, social, economic, legal, and spiritual dimensions of Islam and Muslim societies. Through original and interdisciplinary research, UMRAN contributes to the broader discourse on Islam and Muslim Society, within Malaysia, Southeast Asia and globally.
Scope
UMRAN welcomes the submission of original research articles, theoretical analyses, case studies, and critical reviews that explore diverse themes within Islamic and civilizational studies. Areas of interest include the historical development of Islamic societies, Islamic philosophy and theology, law and jurisprudence, education, political economy, arts and culture, as well as contemporary issues affecting Muslim communities. Contributions that examine the intersections of Islam with fields such as economics, science and technology, ethics, and governance are also encouraged.
While the journal places particular emphasis on research relevant to Southeast Asia and Malaysia, it remains open to global perspectives. Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches are welcomed, provided the central focus engages meaningfully with Islam or Muslim societies.
