Abstract

Islam emphasizes on the development of character based on the good moral (akhlak mahmudah). However, there is a list of character innovators outlined by scholars who view it as negative. The study was conducted on 12 negative characters of innovators and debated from Islamic perspective. The findings suggest that there are characters that can be adapted to Islamic morality (akhlak islam). On the contrary, there are characters that must be avoided because they do not conform to Islamic values.
